Pirates outpace the Bulldogs

On Tuesday, the Pirate Swim and Dive team competed against Brighton High School. This meet was special in that Brighton is a formidable team, each event factored into the final outcome. 

“I felt that it would actually be a competition. I just wanted everyone on the team to do their best. What more could you ask for,” senior Wes Richards said.

The meet was also special because it was exchange student, Henrique Nassif, lasts meet with the team. He left to return to Brazil after the the meet. 

“The match was for Henrique,” junior David O’Connell said. “It felt great to win.”

The Pirates beat the Bulldogs  96 to 90 to continue their 6-1 winning streak. Many pirates PR’d at the meet making this an event to remember. Tyler Ray swam the 100 freestyle, Tyler was not all that confident when he went into this event, but overall swam one of the fastest times of the night.

“I felt that we had a chance, this has been the first time in a while that we’ve had a win over Brighton,” O’Connell said. “Last year we lost badly against Brighton. It’s been at least seven or eight years since we’ve even been close to beating Brighton.” 

Pirates compete against Saline this Thursday at 6 PM at Saline High School.
