The varsity volleyball team celebrated all seven of it’s seniors during their annual Senior Night on Tuesday.

The girls have been playing together since freshmen year, some even longer, making it a very emotional night.

“I’m going to miss spending so much time with this group of people, especially all the fun we’ve had together, senior Huntley Doyle said.

With the gym decorated in white and gold and senior boards covered with pictured all around, Dr. Sharon announced each of the seniors and their parents. He also read some of the seniors favorite memories from their volleyball years and their plans for the future. The underclassmen also got involved by reading speeches that they wrote for the seniors.

Even with all the excitement and emotions, the girls still had a goal. Being in a three way tie for third place in the SEC White, they had to take down Jackson. The pirates came out strong in the first set winning 25-8. They kept up that energy in the second set, this time with a 25-10 win. The girls didn’t let up at all and won the third and final set 25-9, securing their conference win. The team now sits in a two-way-tie with Tecumseh for second place in the SEC White division.

With only two games guaranteed, the team is working hard to prepare for districts coming up.

“I feel pretty confidant because we’ve been playing very well recently,” senior Elise Trost said about going into districts.  “At the last few games a lot of people have showed up for our student section and it really helps our energy so I think it would help a lot to have that kind of energy and support at districts.”

Districts will be held at Brighton High School on November 6th at 5 pm so make sure to come out to support your volleyball team and show your pirate pride.
